Panayiota klokkou

We lay to rest today another beautiful lady of our village Lefkoniko. A fine woman, with a completely positive aura, sweetness, nobility and greatness of soul. Aunt Panayiota Klokkou, wife of the late Misheli Klokkou Always smiling and radiant, her face was like a very bright sun that radiated her inner beauty reminding us of the saying of the ancient Greeks ‘’What the human form is, such is the human soul “. How much love could this woman have in her heart!

She expressed so much kindness, so much optimism, so much joy. She always had a good word, a unique courtesy and her love for every human being. She never complained, and never wanted to disturb others whereas she was an oasis for others. Whenever we met, I could remember the joy we both felt, the exultation of our souls. She was our neighbor, a daughter of Pericles and Eleni Mastora. The house of her family was just a little further down from ours, near Matsouka’s house. She had a brother called Nikos and a sister called Maroula.

Aunt Panayiota was born on 3 April, 1932 and was brought up in the under neighborhood but a young fellow from the upper neighborhood fell in love with her. It was Mishelis Klokkos who returned from England to get married with her and they went to London together. They only had a son called Georgies and happiness filled their life. Their house was always open to everybody and to lots of friends. Panagiota as genuine Lefkonikiatissa prepared wonderful dishes and invited relatives and friends to dinner.

Entertainment was in their blood along with humor. The years passed and their happiness was completed with their two grandchildren, Michael and Louisa. At some point they decided to return to Cyprus. Unfortunately, Lefkoniko was occupied and they found anchorage in the hospitable village of Solea, Katidata. They were very pleased with the people of the village who seemed to have loved them as well.

After Mishelis’s death, aunt Panayiota stayed in her house, and in recent years she had a maid who helped her and kept her company. Always beside her, of course, was her adorable son Georgies who has lived in Cyprus in recent years. He spent the day of last Tuesday with her, and nothing could foretell the end. He left for London on business, but he came back as soon as he got the bad news.

Our beloved Georgies, we wish that you live to remember your beautiful mother for everything that she was and all that she offered you. You’re certainly very proud of your charismatic and wonderful mother.

Our beloved aunt Panayiota, have a good journey. Our love will accompany you on your journey towards light and towards eternity. You leave a good memory behind. We will remember you for your golden heart, your humanity and your beautiful smile. May your memory be eternal.
